Jim Morrison

Daily Dose of Music History (July 29, 2015). On this day in 1967, the Doors started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with an edited version of ‘Light My Fire’.  It was the group’s first US No.1 single.  Eventually, many radio stations in the US would start playing the full six minute and fifty second album cut, which features a longer instrumental break.

Happy Birthday:  Neal Doughty (keyboards, REO Speedwagon), Geddy Lee (vocals/basds, RUSH), and John Sykes (guitar, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake).
