12-Week After-School Strings Class For Kindergarten Through 8th Grade Students

The 12-Week After-School Strings Class for Kindergarten through 8th grade students is designed to give  school students an extra-curricular music activity, expose them to the orchestral string instruments,  and  better prepare them to participate in a vast array of string ensemble and orchestra programs throughout Henderson County. Students can choose to study the violin, viola, or cello.  Please register on the form below.

String Class Days/Times

Music Academy Class – All Students (Grades 3-5):  One Wednesday class time from 4:00 – 5:00 PM with a maximum class size of 25 students is offered for the Spring semester to beginning strings students.  Classes will meet each Wednesday, January 24th through Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 at the Music Academy of WNC and are filled on a first come, first served basis.  No class on April 4th, 2018.  Class tuition for the entire 12-week semester is $125.00.  All classes are taught by Mari Hashimoto.  Please Register On the Form Below.

Fernleaf Community Charter School Students (Grades 2-4):  One Friday class time from 1:30 – 2:30 PM with a maximum class size of 25 students is offered for the Spring semester to beginning string students.  Classes will meet each Friday, January 19th through Friday, April 27th, 2018 at Fernleaf Community Charter School and are filled on a first come, first served basis.  No classes on February 16th, March 9th, and April 6th, 2018.  Class tuition for the entire 12-week semester is $125.00.  All classes are taught by Karen Entzi.  Please Register On the Form Below.

Fernleaf Community Charter School Students (Level 2, Grades 2-4):  One Friday class time from 12:15 – 1:15 PM with a maximum class size of 25 students is offered for the Spring semester for students who completed our Fall 2017 strings class at Fernleaf.  Classes will meet each Friday, January 19th through Friday, April 27th, 2018 at Fernleaf Community Charter School and are filled on a first come, first served basis.  No classes on April 4, 2018.  Class tuition for the entire 12-week semester is $125.00.  All classes are taught by Karen Entzi.  Please Register On the Form Below.

Immaculata Catholic School Students (Grades K-3):  One Wednesday class time from 3:15 – 4:15 PM with a maximum class size of 25 students is offered for the Spring semester to beginning string students.  Classes will meet each Wednesday, January 17th through Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 at Immaculata Catholic School and are filled on a first come, first served basis.  No classes on March 28th and April 4th, 2018.  Class tuition for the entire 12-week semester is $125.00.  All classes are taught by Karen Entzi.  Please Register On the Form Below.

Immaculata Catholic School Students (Grades 4-8):  One Friday class time from 3:15 – 4:15 PM with a maximum class size of 25 students is offered for the Spring semester to beginning string students.  Classes will meet each Friday, January 19th through Friday, April 20th, 2018 at Immaculata Catholic School and are filled on a first come, first served basis.  No classes on March 30th and April 6th, 2018.  Class tuition for the entire 12-week semester is $125.00.  All classes are taught by Karen Entzi.  Please Register On the Form Below.

Steps In Preparing For The After-School Strings Program

  1. Complete the registration form below, select the desired class day, choose which instrument your child is interested in learning (violin, viola, or cello), and pay the tuition.  All tuition payments are processed through PayPal.  Your registration is not complete until payment is received.  You can use your PayPal account or any debit or credit card if you do not have a PayPal account.
  2. Visit Tempo Music Center, in downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina and purchase the following items prior to the first class:
    1. Essential Elements, Book 1 for the instrument of choice (violin, viola, or cello)
    2. Fingerboard stickers for instrument of choice (violin, viola, or cello)
    3. Fearnleaf Community Charter School and Immaculata Catholic School students will also need to purchase a portable (wired) music stand to bring to each class at their school.  Students registered for the strings class at the Music Academy will not need to purchase a music stand.
  3. If you need to rent an instrument for the duration of the 12-week  class, please see Lillian Hall at Tempo Music Center for rental information and pricing.
  4. Please bring your instrument, bow, fingerboard stickers, Essential Elements Book 1, and music stand (FernLeaf students only) to each class.
