Tyler Cason

Tyler Cason – Voice, Folk Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Harmonica,  Songwriting, Serenata Chorale (Faculty Member Since 2016):  Tyler Cason received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master of Music Education degree from North Greenville University in Greenville, SC.  Although classically trained in vocal performance, Tyler is a passionate singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.  He focused his graduate research on the performance and instruction of traditional and contemporary folk music, as well as the development of contemporary American folk and roots music.  Tyler has nearly ten years of experience teaching a wide variety of ages in both private and classroom settings at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels.  Many of Tyler’s students perform in local and state-wide theater and musical productions and he has also coached American Idol contestants for televised competitions.  He is also an active, touring folk musician throughout the Carolinas and Georgia.  Tyler’s desire is to perpetuate the folk and roots music of America through research, instruction, and performance.  He is currently pursuing Doctoral studies at the University of Georgia in Athens.
