The Music Academy of Western North Carolina was founded in 1997 as the Guitar Academy by Director, Michael Ridenour. The original teaching studios were located at Waldrop’s House of Music on Greenville Highway in Hendersonville, North Carolina. In 2009, the Guitar Academy moved across town to its current location at 235 Duncan Hill Road and has expanded three times at this facility to accommodate student and program growth. Since its conception, the Guitar Academy gained a reputation for its high caliber instructors and music curriculum.
In 2012, the Guitar Academy began to diversify its music lesson offerings by adding bass, drums, piano, voice, orchestral strings, brass, and woodwind instruments. Suzuki strings and various other music classes and ensembles were offered to meet the demands of the current student base. In October of 2012, the name was officially changed to the Music Academy of Western North Carolina, LLC with a total branding make over, faculty additions, and curriculum transformation.
The Music Academy is centered on the philosophy of giving all of our students a balanced music education through musicianship training and technical discipline. Our approach and results separate us from other music schools in the area and has given us the reputation of being the #1 Choice, Best Value, and LARGEST Music School for music lessons in Hendersonville.
